Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant contributed to creating chaos in running on the fourth day of the 2nd Test vs Bangladesh in Kanpur.
During the fourth day of the Test, India’s Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant almost got run out on account of a massive mix-up, but at least they were limited in that no one got out and the episode ended with a bit of tension-relieving smile. There was plenty of drama when the first ball inside the 19th over for India’s innings was delivered. This time Khaled Ahmed, the Bangladesh pacer, bowled at good length outside off stump to Virat Kohli. The Indian batsman who was attempting a drive managed an inside edge and the ball beat the close-in fielder. The ball made contact with the lower portion of Virat Kohli’s body taking off some of its momentum. With Wankhede trying to be proactive, the batter then decided to run for a quick single.
Virat Kohli Survives
When Virat Kohli attempted the quick single, his partner Rishabh Pant, instead of moving back, advanced a couple of steps but did not take the run. At that moment Virat Kohli was already striding away from the wicket, and everything that Khaled had to do was throw the ball that he held on to the stumps at the batter who was at the striker’s end. Unfortunately, the pacer had an underarm throw from a very close position but failed to hit the stumps and screwed it up.
Here, he was able to retreat into his crease, so there wasn’t a runout. While India captain Rohit Sharma reacted in a completely shocked manner during the mix-up, Gill was left in splits after the incident. At the same time, Pant rushed toward Virat Kohli and apologized with a hug.
Without a doubt, it is said to be one of the most miserable runout misses of all time in this circus of a game. Watch it here:
Jasprit Bumrah
It was Jasprit Bumrah’s 3 for 50 that spearheaded the Indian effort which saw them restrict Bangladesh to 233 runs after they had resumed at 107 for 3 on Monday. After taking a first-innings lead of 52 runs, the home team went for the kill and declared their innings at 285 for 9 in 34.4 overs. The Indian team was spearheaded by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who cracked a quick-fire 72 off just 51 balls, while Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were the chief destroyers for Bangladesh with four scalps each.
It was a remarkable batting display from India since the side created records for the fastest 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 in test cricket. Before the end of the day’s play, Ravichandran Ashwin also picked up two wickets and left Bangladesh stranded at 26 for 2.
